2016 Fall Donor Appeal
A New Vision for PODER
PODER is organizing a special fall private donor appeal. Gentrification on the Lower West Side has pushed the Latino immigrant community further south and west. As PODER transitions from a 19-year headquarters in Pilsen to a multiple satellite site model in the Midway Airport area, we are at an important juncture of growth and transition. Your support will bolster PODER’s ability to build our infrastructure so we can effectively scale our programs to serve a growing number of Latino immigrants with our integrated English literacy and workforce development programs.
Additionally, for fourteen years, PODER received a $50,000 grant from the State of Illinois in support of our English literacy program. The state budget impasse has effectively weakened the entire social service sector in Illinois and PODER has not been immune to the negative impact of this political standstill.
Without PODER, thousands of immigrants would not be able to gain the necessary skills to secure employment, provide for their families, and integrate into U.S. society. We encourage you to join this group of private donors with a one-time gift in solidarity with PODER, the social service sector, and most importantly, our students.
Donate today to support PODER’s long-standing programs for the Latino immigrant community.
