Congratulations to our student and part-time employee, Jose Acebedo, who was nominated for a prestigious Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) Outstanding Adult Learner of the Year award. Jose was selected as a runner-up, due to his inspiring story and perseverance in the face of multiple obstacles. He currently works as PODER’s receptionist and is transitioning into a more advanced position as a bookkeeper and data collection specialist. COABE is a national organization with fifteen thousand members, dedicated to provide leadership, communication, professional development, and advocacy for adult education and literacy practitioners in order to advance quality services for all adult learners.
